Frequently Asked Questions

What attracts mosquitoes to my yard?

Mosquitoes require stagnant water to lay their eggs. Even small puddles, birdbaths, clogged gutters, and unused swimming pools can provide breeding grounds.

Vegetation: Dense vegetation, such as tall grass, shrubs, and trees, provides shelter for mosquitoes during the day and can trap moisture, creating ideal breeding conditions.

Dark Colors: Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors, such as black and navy. This is because they use their vision to detect their hosts. Wearing dark clothing or having dark objects in your yard can make you more visible to mosquitoes.

Body Heat and Carbon Dioxide: Mosquitoes are also drawn to body heat and carbon dioxide, which are exhaled by humans and animals. This makes people and pets more attractive targets.

Perfume and Body Odor: Mosquitoes are sensitive to scents, including perfumes, lotions, and body odor. These can attract them to your yard.

Animal Waste: Mosquitoes are attracted to animal waste, which can provide a source of nutrients and moisture for their larvae.
